I am NOTHING…and everything
“The Being by which Nothingness arrives in the world must nihilate. Nothingness in its Being, and even so it still runs the risk of establishing Nothingness as a transcendent in the very heart of immanence unless it nihilates Nothingness in its being in connection with its own being.” - Sartre (Thomson - The Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis: Worlds Shaped by Words, page 87, last paragraph).
There is no such Being as Nothingness. For in Nothingnesses action of nihilation, of unknowing and worthlessness, it is achieving Being. For how is worthlessness possible without first having worth; and unknowing possible without first having known? A value must be placed on Being before displacing that value into Nothingness, hence, giving Nothingness a notion of worth by its very connection to worthlessness.
Further, once we give that which does not exist, that which we do not know, Nothing, a word, a phrase, a thought, it becomes, it is then immanent, it exists. In its deed of origination, Nothingnesse’s very preeminent nature requires it to have a connection with Being. If there is no connection with Being then Nothingness cannot withstand. The neighboring of Nothingness to immanence gives Nothingness Being.
What are you thinking? Nothing.
All encounters inherently contain an essence of Being. There can not be one without the other. The person who is contemplative, who is thinking, has answered that she is thinking of Nothingness. Nothingness has once again taken on Being within the “thinker’s” mind. The thinker has placed worth on her thoughts, or rather deemed the thoughts that she had worthless, adjoining again, worth to Nothingness. As a result giving Nothingness Being.
Though, the very fact that Nothingness establishes Being negates its non-existence, because Nothingness by definition is non-existent.
